About The St Marylebone School

Founded in 1791, St Marylebone School is a successful, multi-faith comprehensive school for girls aged from eleven to eighteen. Set in an oasis of calm just two minutes' walk from the turmoil of Marylebone Road, the school provides an exhilarating and inspiring learning environment which provides an opportunity for all pupils to achieve. The school offers a haven of peace and tranquillity where traditional principles underpin a modern, forward-thinking outlook which gives girls the confidence and skills to know that women can succeed in whatever they choose to do. Our standards and expectations are high and we pride ourselves in giving every student the opportunity to excel, to fulfil her potential and become highly qualified, equipped fully for the demands and exciting challenges of life.

A Welcome from the Headteacher, Elizabeth Phillips

This has been a particularly exciting year for our school community, which has seen many developments in the school’s commitment to educational excellence.

As well as another set of superb exam results, which were testament to the hard work of both students and staff, this year has seen exciting advancements in the provision of personalised learning across the school. Learning about, and developing, their Personal Learning and Thinking skills  has enabled Marylebone pupils to understand how their learning takes place, and the skills they will need to develop in order to achieve success as life-long learners.

Last year also marked the grand opening of our new Blandford Street building. This exciting new development was one of the final stages of our Building Schools for the Future programme. As well as providing our sixth form pupils with outstanding learning spaces and facilities, the new site has also enabled all years to benefit from the superb DT and Science suites.

Our refurbished library also opened at the Main Site, and has proved to be hugely successful. The library now offers pupils a bright, welcoming and calm space in which to relax and read or study, and is host to numerous clubs including Brain Training, Book Club and Creative Writing Club. As well as these new developments, the school has continued in its commitment to providing stimulating and exciting learning opportunities for pupils both in and out of the classroom, with our debate society, numerous performing arts companies and sports teams going from strength to strength.

I do hope you enjoy looking through the website to get a flavour of life at St. Marylebone.
