Open Evening Slides

Welcome from the Director of Post-16 Education, David Anson

David Anson

I’m sure you are frequently hearing the old adage that these are the best years of your life, and so they should be. But more often than not years 12 and 13 can be a daunting period of change and an anxious slog towards exam results day. However, here at St Marylebone we offer an exciting and stimulating curriculum, an enriching programme of PSHCE and extra-curricular activities, a supportive pastoral system and the chance to lead whole school activities before making that final leap to Higher Education.

At St Marylebone students excel academically because of high expectations and well placed motivation from staff together with outstanding teaching and encouragement for students to work towards independent learning needed at university. With excellent support from a dedicated team of tutors and experienced heads of year, students are fully supported in their future goals.

Learning at this level and making life-changing decisions is challenging for both students and parents and carers.  At the school we want to acknowledge that success is a partnership between the school, the student and parents and carers and so as well as providing support for students we have a regular programme of meetings so that parents and carers know how best to support their son or daughter.

We offer a broad range of subjects. However, we firmly believe that learning and intellectual excitement occurs both inside and outside the classroom and also offer an excellent range of trips and enrichment and engagement activities so that every student can develop his/her own talents and fully prosper.

Tutor groups, Student Council, the Head Girl's Team (which does include boys!) and the prefect and mentoring systems mean that students can make their voice heard and ensure the school is theirs in a significant way. In September 2009 we moved into a new Sixth Form building on Blandford Street. This includes a fantastic common room, cafè, purpose built learning and study areas and many opportunities for students to feel fully integrated into their learning environment.

We hope that you found the Open Evening helpful. If you have any questions after the evening please do not hesitate to contact the school.

Welcome from Head Girl, Adewalie Akinyele

Head Girl, Adewalie AkinyeleSt Marylebone and its 6th Form are blessed with a diversity of cultures, beliefs and ideals that inspire a common goal of success. This success is achieved not only by the hard work of the students, but with the abundance of support of the staff, who are dedicated to helping students reach their full potential.

Years 12 and 13 are the most important years of a student’s schooling days as they lay a foundation upon which future careers and life choices are based. In the right environment, students are encouraged to grow in confidence, maturity and independence to properly prepare them for their future endeavours.

With its Performing Arts, Mathematics, ICT and STEM status, St Marylebone offers a wide range of specialized and extra curricular activities to cater for differing hobbies, talents and ambitions whilst maintaining the traditional core values of education.
