International Evening 2011
9th November 2011
Congratulations to Year 7s for their fantastic effort in International Evening last week. From African Drumming to the Can-Can, from Chinese pop songs to Irish folk, from Aboriginal and Inca creation myths to Egyptian poetry, performers took us on a whistle-stop tour of the cultures of the world, ending with a whole-cast rendition of the American folk song Blowin’ In The Wind (pictured). The students were delighted, the parents were thrilled, and when the dust had settled, we all had a broader vision of the cultural wealth and diversity of both our school and our planet. Watch this space for the International Evening 2011 DVD - the perfect Christmas stocking filler!

Wales Tour 2011
11th July - 15th July 2011
A specially-formed choir of 40 singers from Years 7 - 12 recently performed in Wales, "the land of song". Staying in Cardiff Bay in the Wales Millennium Centre, the students gave three highly-acclaimed performances at prestigious venues in the Welsh capital: in the Wales Millennium Centre itself, the first school choir to perform at the new Concert Hall of Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and as part of the Welsh Proms at St David's Hall. The students also took time to explore the historic city centre, the Welsh Parliament building and to experience the thrill of speedboats in Cardiff Bay.
