Casual Admissions

Casual Admissions

The St Marylebone C.E. School does not operate a ranked order waiting list but does keep information on file of those looking for a place at the school.  Places only become available if an existing pupil leaves.  The school receives at least 5 applications per week for places. It is not the school’s policy to take pupils into Year 11 as this year is usually full and because the GCSE course is a 2 year course.   However, the school does take pupils of Year 11 age into Year 10 to cover the 2 year GCSE course when there are places.

Casual Admissions Policy

The Casual Admissions Policy is currently being updated and will be made available as soon as it is finalised.

Application Procedure

To be considered for a casual admissions place you must write a letter for the attention of Mrs Elizabeth Phillips (Headteacher).  This letter must include the following information:

  1. Name of child
  2. Date of birth
  3. A copy of their most recent school report.  This is used solely to determine the academic band in which the child falls
  4. In the case of Church of England applicants, you must include a completed Clergy Form (available from the school)

Please note that the waiting pool is not carried over from one academic year to the next. For example, if you have applied for a Year 8 place for the academic year beginning September 2011, you will have to write a new letter to be considered for a Year 9 place in September 2012.  These letters will only be accepted from June 2011.
