Performing arts at Marylebone is creative, exciting and flourishing.

St Marylebone is one of the top Performing Arts Colleges in the country. Awarded Specialist Arts College status in 1998 the Performing Arts faculty comprises Dance, Drama and Music.
With outstanding results at GCSE and A level, newly opened purpose built facilities, excellent teaching and the Arts Mark Gold award the arts are high profile. A recent external Performing Arts Faculty review deemed the faculty as ‘outstanding’ and noted:

  • Excellent leadership of Arts' specialism
  • Performing Arts is clearly a strong and popular faculty within the school
  • Strong sense of teamwork within the faculty and a shared vision to move even further forward
  • Teaching and learning in the specialist Arts subjects are either ‘good’ or ‘outstanding’
  • Relationships between staff and pupils is excellent

The Arts specialism is fully embedded across the whole school and is fully woven into schemes of work across all Key Stages. Creativity in the curriculum is key to the success and confidence of our students.

Performing Arts Scholarships are awarded on entry to Year 7 and Year 12 and these students contribute to the high profile of the faculty. Students receive extra tuition, specialist programmes and workshops and are always performing in performances.

Outside of school students perform at top London venues: The Place, Royal Albert Hall, BBC Maida Vale Studios, Unicorn Theatre, Wigmore Hall to name but a few, with regular music trips abroad, and for the first time, a dance company tour.

There is an extensive community programme in the specialist subjects with Advanced Skills Teachers in all subjects. Performing Arts teachers run projects with other schools and educational establishments within the borough as well as with other arts partners.
